Mosquitoes in the House

Mosquitoes in the house call for a check of accessible water-holding containers as well as possible entry routes. In Singapore, recurring adult sightings do not by themselves identify the species or breeding location.

The short answer

NEA identifies preventing mosquito breeding as the most effective control approach. Adult mosquitoes indoors may have entered from outside; a sighting is not proof of breeding inside your unit.

Compare the clues

Use these observations to explain the concern. A possible explanation still needs to be checked at the property.

What could explain the signs?

Use the surrounding evidence to describe the concern. These possibilities help frame an inspection; they do not confirm the cause in your property.

Repeated sightings in one room

Record the time, window position and nearby accessible water containers. A photograph of the insect helps distinguish the concern from other small flying insects.

Activity near a shared area

Keep unit observations separate from corridor, garden or common-drain findings. Tell the estate contact exactly where the concern was observed so the right area can be checked.

What you can check first

Check accessible plant saucers, containers and other places holding stagnant water. Empty and scrub household containers as appropriate, following NEA guidance. Do not access roof gutters or locked service areas yourself.

When to arrange an assessment

Ask for an assessment when activity continues or suspected breeding cannot be accessed. Use the estate manager or official municipal reporting route for common areas; a private enquiry does not replace an official report.

Common questions

Use the observations to ask specific questions before agreeing to an inspection or further work.

Does seeing mosquitoes prove my home is a breeding site?

No. Check accessible water sources and record the findings. An adult sighting alone cannot establish where the insect developed.

What should I include in an enquiry?

Include your property type, the exact affected area, when the sign appeared and whether it has returned. SG Pest Control receives the enquiry; inspection, findings and any work must be agreed separately with the business responsible.

Not sure what you have noticed?

Tell us where the concern is, what you have seen and whether it keeps returning.
