Check the space before choosing who to contact
Tampines Town Council explicitly lists pest control among its common-area conservancy services. That is a useful reporting route for a shared-space concern; it is not a promise to treat inside your home. Check the block and managing party before contacting a council or arranging private work.
Inside the kitchen
Record the cupboard, fitting or room where activity appears. Ask a private business whether it will inspect nearby hiding places and possible access routes, rather than only treating the visible spot.
At the common chute or bin area
Give the block, level and precise point where you observed activity. Use the council’s feedback route or OneService for neighbourhood feedback. Leave a working service area to authorised staff.
Write a report that can be acted on
The Tampines feedback form asks for the block, road and postal code and allows photo attachments. Prepare those before opening it. Add the time, the type of finding and whether it has happened again. Keep observations from your own flat separate from what you saw downstairs.
An example of useful wording
“Small insects at the edge of the shared chute door, level [floor], at [time] on [date]; photograph attached.” Fill in what you actually observed. Do not guess a species or assign blame.
Keep the acknowledgement
Save the report reference and the date. If more relevant evidence appears, refer to the same case where the channel allows it instead of starting an unrelated history.
Ask about the chute without assuming it is the source
If sightings are near a chute, photograph the location and describe whether insects are inside the flat, at the opening or outside. Ask what an inspection can establish. Do not alter a shared chute, block required access or copy permanent sealing advice from a comment thread.
Agree the part of the job you are paying for
Ask whether the quote covers the flat only, the affected rooms and return checks. A private company cannot promise work on common property without the necessary access and arrangements. Clarify any repairs or estate coordination separately.
